Professor Will Alexander, of South Africa, came to our attention once we got our New Zealand Climate Science Coalition up and running.  There is a regrettable tendency to overlook the importance of South Africa to the world, which largely overlooks the fact that the Dutch settled in 1652 the large southern area of the huge continent of Africa, and, being the methodical folk that they are it wasn't long before they were recording physical attributes of their lands and rivers, activities which were carried on by the British when they assumed control in the late 19th century. We have regularly posted Dr Alexander's memos to our NZCSC website, and those who have followed them need no reminding of his scholarship and analyses based on his dedication to the truth of recorded fact. Those of us who have read them are not surprised by the present disastrous drought in Somalia: he predicted them as far back as 2008. HIs latest posting explains how and why.

 Manipulation of science

In my last memo, acting on instructions of my better half, I informed readers that it would be my last contribution to this climate change issue.

But things have changed. I received several encouraging comments and three requests for publication of the material in the memos. Then the media reported that Al Gore had been invited to South Africa. The NGOs have woken up.

It is obvious that there is a growing international instability on economic issues. I have always had an interest in the history of warfare and its causes. All the ingredients are there for another outbreak of hostilities.

My two attached reports (links bekow) are an attempt to put the whole climate change issue in perspective and to offer a solution.

The resumption of the stalled Bonn discussions in September will provide an important insight into the direction that international discussions are likely to take during the UNFCCC's conference (COP 17) that is due to take place in Durban starting at the end of November.

South Africa has delayed the production of its White Paper on climate change until after the completion of these discussions.

I have to take care not to become overstressed when producing my reports and memos. I have just had another look through my Dictionary of quotations. The three quotations that are most relevant to my studies are:

*Study the past, if you would define the future. Confucius (550-478 BC)

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930).

Never give in! Never give in! Never, never, never, never, -- in nothing great or small – large or petty -- never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Winston Churchill. (1874-1965).

  • I urge you to distribute this email and the attachments as widely as possible.

    Regards,

    Will
